The BCCI announced on Tuesday the complete list of players going under the hammer during the IPL 2022 mega auction. In addition, the board announced that the auction ceremony will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. The BCCI has decided to make this year’s ceremony grand with the addition of two new teams, Lucknow SuperGiants and Ahmedabad. From the original tally of 1214 players, 590 were selected.

 

Among 590 players, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players, and 7 belong to Associate Nations.

In the IPL 2022 auction, the 10 franchisees – Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow SuperGiants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Team Ahmedabad – will look to complete their squads through bidding wars.

Based on 48 players naming themselves in this category, the highest base price reserved for the auctions is INR 2 crore. Twenty players registered their names under INR 1.5 crore. There are 34 cricketers whose reserve price is one crore rupees.

370 of the 590 players are Indian, while 220 are overseas players, all of whom will be auctioned in Bengaluru over two days. In the overseas section, Australia have the most players for sale – 47, followed by the West Indies with 34 and South with 33.

Players like Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Ishan Kishan, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Ishant Sharma, and Umesh Yadav are expected to start bidding wars among franchises.

As overseas stars like Faf du Plessis, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, Dwayne Bravo, Shakib Al Hasan, and Wanindu Hasaranga are expected to break the bank.
