This comes after the show averaged just under 2.6 million viewers during its first season.
It appears that the TV station’s decision to cancel the show was unavoidable.
Black Door is a fascinating erotic adults-only soapie set in the high-class world of Mam’ Rebecca’s pleasure-dome brothel (Linda Sebezo). Mam’Rabecca’s business associates and community businessmen gather at the illegal brothel for dubious deals and sexual pleasures housed under one roof.
BREAKING:
The Black Door cancelled
Sad news for #TheBlackDoor fans. The etv telenovela will not be renewed for another season.
Pulling just under 2.6-million viewers peak — with an audience share of 37.4% for its timeslot, the show was not a dud, numbers wise.#KgopoloReports pic.twitter.com/u1TYcLUq4X

Black Door starred a slew of industry heavyweights, including lead actress Zamani Mbatha, as well as Linda Sebezo, Velephi Mnisi, Sello Ramalohloane, and SK Khoza.
The adult-only drama debuted on the channel in April 2022 as a replacement for a series of late-night adult films that had previously dominated the channel.
The free-to-air network is well-known for its R-rated adult film series Emmanuelle, which was banned in 2015.
Black Door’s producers, Black Brain, revealed that they wanted to push the boundaries with the show, just like they did with Emmanuella.
However, the move did not draw as many viewers as expected – and in comparison to Emmanuella.
However, Phil Mphela, an online entertainment commentator, believes the show was not necessarily a flop in terms of numbers because it had a relatively good share of the audience slot when compared to other shows on the channel.
