In Johnny Depp’s explosive defamation trial on Thursday, Amber Heard abruptly dropped Kate Moss’ name, alleging the actor previously threw the British supermodel down the stairs.
Heard, 36, made the claim on the second day of her trial in Fairfax, Virginia, as she outlined a series of violent confrontations she reportedly had with Depp throughout their poor relationship.
The “Aquaman” actress referenced Moss briefly while detailing the first time she punched Depp in the face, fearing he might shove her sister Whitney down a stairwell.
In March 2015, Heard said she and her then-husband were fighting on the mezzanine of one of his multiple penthouses when her sister stepped in the way.
“She threw herself in the line of fire,” Heard said of her sister. “She was trying to get Johnny to stop. Her back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her.
“I don’t hesitate and wait — I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs.”
Between 1994 and 1998, Moss and Depp dated.
When Heard testified in Depp’s other defamation trial in the UK in 2020, she first stated the Moss staircase accusation.
Heard described the same fight with her sister to a British court at the time, saying: “I remembered information I had heard [that] he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs. I had heard this rumor from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”
Depp’s lawyers accused Heard of creating the Moss “rumor” and inserting it into her evidence at the last minute out of malice during that trial.
According to the lawyer, Heard never addressed the issue before the trial, including in her deposition and witness statements.
