The Korean drama ‘Snowdrop’ comes to an end with a final episode full of bullets and tears. Surprisingly, it’s not that dissimilar to what one might assume. It is notable for depicting the cast and crew’s hard work, particularly in its final goodbye.
Lim Soo Ho (Jung Hae In) resisted Eun Young Ro’s (Jisoo) attempts to give him a memory to hang onto in the pre-finale episode, resulting in a bittersweet goodbye between the leads. The stakes were raised once again when utility manager Kim Dong Man, who appeared to be another Northern spy in the girls’ dormitory, talked through a radio. In the last episode, he tries everything he can to damage the spies’ attempt to flee to another nation, despite the fact that their own government has ordered their execution.
Lim Soo Ho leaves the dormitory with a sorrowful heart, but his determination to never see her again is quickly shattered as he hears news reports of the hostel being blown up despite widespread protests. He intends to return, but is caught in the middle when Kim Dong Man assassinates two of his teammates and then proceeds to confront him and Kang Cheong Ya (Yoo In Na), only to be shot dead. Lim Soo Ho discovers Kang Cheong Ya’s real name, which is a sign of complete trust, and wishes to divulge his own, but is prevented.
He devotes his entire being to saving all of the girls in the dorm and is concerned about Eun Young Ro. They return to their hiding place on the terrace while attempting to save her. They share moments of weeping fear and blood-splattered phrases in which he implore her to stay safe. As he tries to push himself in front of Eun Young Ro, SWAT officers take him down.
‘Snowdrop’ concludes with an unfinished love tale before moving on to reveal the people’s lives following a difficult period. Eun Young Ro can be seen listening to Lim Soo Ho’s voice recorder at the location where she first met him, pondering how different things would be if they were ordinary people.
