Just Dance 2023 is one of the popular titles in the ‘rhythm game’ genre and the fourteenth installment in the ‘Just Dance’ game series. Ubisoft has also introduced a subscription service called JustDance+ alongside the game.
The service offers access to a good number of songs from previous games and some ‘new and exclusive’ tracks as well.
One can enjoy this game on popular gaming platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation, and Xbox, but there has been a mixed response from fans and critics.
Like any other game, Just Dance 2023 also has its fair share of bugs and issues. If you are having difficulties connecting or pairing an external controller with the game, then you are not alone.
Just Dance 2023 ‘wrong code’ error while connecting phone
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple players are currently experiencing problems while pairing their mobile devices as a controller with the game. The bug seems to have affected both Android and iPhone users.
In order to pair their phones, one needs to install the Just Dance Controller app from the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. After that, one can connect their smartphone and the game with the help of a pairing code.
Reportedly, the problem that players are facing is that they receive the ‘wrong code’ error message while trying to pair their mobile devices with the Just Dance game.
Even after multiple attempts, they keep receiving this error message.
The bug has been affecting gamers for quite some time, and due to this, they are unable to enjoy a hassle-free gameplay experience.
Even though some updates have been released in the past few days claiming to have fixed the persistent problem, it remains unresolved as of now.
General troubleshooting steps such as reinstalling the controller app on phones and reinstalling a fresh copy of the game on consoles do not seem to work.
Official response
Fortunately, the developers have officially acknowledged the issue, and it is currently being investigated. Although it must be noted that an official ETA has not been provided.
Also, some affected players have been asked to submit some details regarding the issue on Ubisoft’s Twitter handle.
Potential workaround
We did come across a potential workaround that could help solve the problem for some Xbox owners. It is advisable to remove the game from the quick-start menu and then try the pairing process again.
Unfortunately, other console owners will have to wait for some time.
That said, we’ll keep an eye on the issue where Just Dance 2023 players receive a ‘wrong code’ error when connecting their phones with the controller app and update this article accordingly.
Update 1 (January 4, 2023)
04:08 pm (IST): One of our readers have shared that they were able to fix this issue by connecting both their phone and console to the same channel of the Wi-Fi network.

06:08 pm (IST): This issue was discovered a month ago, yet there is still no fix. Even Ubisoft claims to be working on it, but there is no ETA.
