Kajal Aggarwal, the actress who won the hearts of millions through her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes is trending on twitter now for being pregnant. Congratulations Kajal! But before we take a look at her success let’s know what was the struggling history of Kajal. Originally from Punjab, Kajal grew up in Mumbai in a Punjabi family. Vinay Aggarwal, her father, is a textile entrepreneur, and Suman Aggarwal is Kajal’s mother, who is a confectioner and manager of Kajal’s business. Nisha Aggarwal, Kajal’s younger sister, has appeared in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam films, and is now married to Karan Valecha (CEO of Golds Gyms Asia). Kajal studied in Mumbai and began acting while she was still in college. Before coming to acting she used to be a model at many fashion shows.
Kyun… Ho Gaya Na! marks Kajal’s acting debut, enacting a supporting role as Diya’s friend (Aishwarya Rai). Later, she starred in P. Bharathiraja’s Tamil film Bommalattam, which was intended to be her first film in Tamil, was delayed. As a lead actress, Aggarwal made her Telugu film debut with Lakshmi Kalyanam (2007). It was Chandamama, her first successful Telugu film, that made her a star.
With “Magadheera” in 2009, she played the roles of Yuvarani Mitravinda Devi and Indira (Indu), making her one of the most sought-after actresses in Telugu cinema. In the following years, she appeared in Telugu films such as Darling (2010), Brindavanam (2010), Mr. Perfect (2011), Businessman (2012), Naayak (2013), Baadshah (2013), Govindudu Andarivadele (2014), Temper (2015) and Khaidi No. 150 (2017).
In 2011 she also made her comeback to bollywood. After seven years, Aggarwal made her Bollywood comeback in Singham, a remake of a Tamil film of the same name, opposite Ajay Devgn. As with Aggarwal’s portrayal of a Goan girl, Kavya Bhosle, it received mixed reviews, with critics stating that Aggarwal didn’t have much to offer in the hero-centric film. “Kajal Aggarwal acts with effortless ease. Her performance is good,” writes Komal Nahta, while Filmfare observes that “Kajal, who looks pretty and carries the film well, probably deserves a meatier debut.” It was still a box office hit. Her performance earned her two nominations: the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut and the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. The Telugu film Dhada, in which Aggarwal starred opposite Naga Chaitanya, failed to do well at the box office.
Later in 2012, Aggarwal returned to Tamil cinema with two high-profile action flicks. Initially, there was Maattrraan, directed by K. Vijay Anand with Suriya as the star. Reviews were mixed to positive. From here her acting career balanced and all she received was praises from the critics for her acting skills.
In 2022, Aggarwal has two upcoming films. The first one is Acharya, an action-drama co-starring Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. Koratala Siva is the director and Niranjan Reddy is the producer. Filming began in December. Another film directed by Brinda is Hey Sinamika, which features Dulquer Salmaan and Aditi Rao Hydari. The film is set to release on 25 February.
