Kik Messenger is a free-to-use instant messaging service developed by MediaLab AI, Inc. The app was launched in 2010 and is available on both iOS as well as Android.

It uses Wi-Fi and mobile data to send and receive messages, videos, and photos amongst other things. Kik gained massive popularity because users can register and use it without sharing their email address or phone number.

Having said that, Kik users are now reporting that the service is down. Many are expressing their frustration on social media platforms like Twitter.

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – has thousands of reports indicating that Kik is indeed down.

Here are a few reports from Kik users for whom the service is down or not working right now.

Unfortunately, we are yet to come across any official word on the matter. We hope the developers find out the root cause of the problem and fix it as soon as possible.

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space as and when we come across more information so make sure you stay tuned.
