After the first Kirby game was released in 1993, the love for the franchise has continued to grow for the games and Kirby himself. Kirby and The Forgotten Land is the newest game coming to the Kirby video game franchise. The gameplay follows in the footsteps of Super Mario Odyssey with a bigger, more open world and with its own Kirby flair.

This information would mainly be for those who collect amiibos since they won’t be very useful in Kirby and The Forgotten Land. Destructoid goes on to advise that the amiibos will mostly be used for bonus items in the game rather than anything else amiibos have been used for in the past, such as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword recently.

Since the release of the Kirby and The Forgotten Land trailer fans have reacted in diverse ways. It is disappointing that a game bringing such new concepts to the Kirby franchise will have amiibos that will only give players bonus items instead of something a little more useful. Other amiibos in the past, such as the aforementioned Skyward Sword amiibo gave the player the capability to ascend to the sky to fly to another location without the need of a Bird Statue.

This is of course an advantage for collectors who might have missed out on the initial launch of these amiibos. That being said, it would have been nicer for the Kirby and The Forgotten Land exclusive amiibos to have more of a use to them. An example could be certain copy abilities only seen in previous Kirby games like merging of copy abilities from Kirby and the Crystal Shards.

Kirby and The Forgotten Land will release on Nintendo Switch on March 25th
