We have both good and terrible news to report. The bad news is that Kristen Stewart has officially ended the fan effort to cast her as The Joker in The Batman alongside her ex-boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson. But the good news is that she enjoys it and isn’t ruling out a role in a Batman film alongside RPatz.

While promoting the November 5 theatrical release of Spencer, the 31-year-old actor spoke on Variety’s Award Circuit podcast this week. She used the opportunity to address the ongoing social media petitions to have her turn into the Clown Prince of Crime.

When asked if she would ever consider playing the part, she said, “I adore the spirit behind that.” “It’s been done really well. I’m not sure whether we walk over, but I admire your enthusiasm. Let’s think about something else. I’m up with playing a weird, frightening character.”

“Not ‘no,’ but not the most thrilled I’ve ever been,” Stewart said when asked whether that was a firm no. Let’s try something different.”

The Joker’s courteous pass must be frustrating to fans who have been hoping for this since Pattinson was originally revealed as the next Dark Knight. Other candidates have been mentioned, such as Rami Malek, Adam Driver, and Tilda Swinton, but K-Stew appears to be the one that keeps coming up.
