KuCoin ‘Your trading pin is expiring’ SMS scam
Recently, KuCoin users have been receiving a scam SMS saying ‘Your trading pin is expiring’ along with a fake link to a phishing website.
Phishing is a form of scamming technique where the attacker impersonates a trusted entity and dupes a user into opening a malicious link.
Once you click on the website link in the SMS and enter confidential data, the scammer gets all the information, and they can misuse it in any form.
Since the SMS comes to the number registered on KuCoin, some indicate that the company’s database could be compromised. However, KuCoin’s CEO has denied these allegations.
Issue acknowledged
Fortunately, KuCoin support has acknowledged the ‘Your trading pin is expiring’ SMS scam and warned users not to open such links. But they did not provide an ETA for a fix.
KuCoin’s CEO also responded and said that their database has not been compromised and that they are investigating this issue.
