“With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host, and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles,” King’s official Twitter announced Saturday morning.
While no cause of death was originally provided, his death comes just weeks after media knowing he was battling Coronavirus.
Larry King’s work has been highly recognised and praised, with him winning two Peabodys, an Emmy award, and 10 Cable ACE awards.
King originally began as a Florida journalist and radio interviewer in the 1950s and 1960s and gained prominence beginning in 1978 as host of The Larry King Show, an all-night call-in radio program in the US. Unlike many interviewers, King had a direct, non-confrontational approach. His reputation for asking easy, open-ended questions made him attractive to important figures who wanted to state their position while avoiding being challenged on tricky topics.
Celebrities worldwide are expressing their grief and remembering their fondest memories of him. He was an inspiration to many of the performers we see today.
RIP Larry King.
Larry was one of the greats. A broadcast legend. I was excited to meet him (seen below) and even more excited he liked one of my films. Wherever he is, I’m sure he is marrying the wrong angel as we speak. pic.twitter.com/dYhbwrrB51

Larry King was a legend. I once did an article teasing his amazing tweets and he came back with this. pic.twitter.com/NWo9glzfVe
