With the next generation of graphics card technology on the horizon, both Nvidia and AMD are working to keep themselves ahead of the competition, especially with Intel about to enter the ring. With the announcement of team green’s RTX 40-series, and RDNA 3 architecture coming this year, the race is on to start the next era strong. With that in mind, it looks like Jensen Huang and co are planning on releasing, or at least unveiling, a number of SKUs.

According to a recent report from Tom’s Hardware, which references some release notes that have been leaked, Nvidia may be launching up to five new products from its upcoming Ada Lovelace range, which will likely follow similar models and naming schemes from its current Ampere lineup. Not much is known about them at this stage, but the leak does list an AD102, AD103, AD104, AD106, and AD107, which are likely to form the basis of the 40-series, the report goes on to say.

As a result, it’s likely that the tech giant will release models such as an RTX 4050 all the way up to a beefier RTX 4090, possibly a 4090 Ti, if the company is following the same footsteps as the current 30-series. While there is no official word yet when the new generation will arrive, it’s possible that Nvidia could launch the RTX 40-series this September. Given that AMD is also rumored to be launching its next hardware later on this year, it would make sense for its biggest rival to aim for a similar launch window.

However, the market is still in this generation GPU, which has been marred pretty much throughout its entirety due to the ongoing shortages. With Nvidia still to release its RTX 3090 Ti, and AMD possibly looking to launch some more high-end products this year, it seems both are keen to squeeze as much life out of the Ampere and RDNA 2 architecture, respectively, before the industry moves on.

What the future will hold for Nvidia, AMD, and Intel graphical hardware remains to be seen at this stage. With the semiconductor shortage expected to go on until 2023, there’s a possibility that the next generation could experience just as much turmoil as this one. However, prices are starting to come down again, and even though they still remain above MSRP, there’s hope yet that the market will start to look a lot better by the time all three companies start unveiling new products.
