LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now, allowing fans of the franchise to explore all 9 movies in any order they choose. Some may opt to go by movie order or chronological order in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but there is one chance seen in the original trilogy (and beyond) that only makes sense for those who have seen the sequel trilogy.
To call the Star Wars sequel trilogy controversial may be an understatement, whether that’s Palpatine’s return in the Rise of Skywalker or the characterization of Luke in The Last Jedi—many moments didn’t sit well with fans. Many questioned how LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would handle many of these moments, and they’re getting answers. But perhaps one of the “smallest” Last Jedi controversies has the most comedic effect in the game.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s Running Blue-Green Milk Gag
Many will recall in The Last Jedi when Luke milks and then somewhat aggressively drinks some blue-green alien milk. Obviously, this in and of itself isn’t something controversial, but many felt uncomfortable by the scene and rightfully so. It sparked fan discussions for months, although it should be noted that Luke also drinks similar milk in A New Hope. It just seems more natural and less nasty looking.
It comes as no surprise that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would turn this scene into a full-blown running gag, especially since the physical deluxe edition comes with a LEGO Luke figure with a blue milk carton. Yet, beyond where it naturally fits in the lore, fans will come across the blue milk multiple times. The moment in A New Hope wasn’t enough to make a full gag out of, so it’s clearly inspired by The Last Jedi.
For example, if players choose a chronological order with the game, they will first see a blue milk bottle in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. When Luke and Leia are born, Luke can be seen holding this bottle. The scene itself isn’t particularly funny, but it is quite funny to think about this moment in the context of The Last Jedi.
In A New Hope, players will also see Luke at one point with a blue-milk mustache. When players later escape from Mos Eisley on the Millennium Falcon, they will also see blue milk fly out into space, and so on. This running gag really takes one part of the franchise that fans didn’t welcome wholeheartedly and turns it into a recurring joke. It works really well in the game, showing how a franchise’s low points still play a major role in its impact overall.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
