You don’t need a smart television to stream your favourite movies and TV shows today. There are gadgets available in the market today that will provide your regular television set with the ability to establish an internet connection.

The latest Shield TV 2019 went live in two versions, regular and Pro. Running on Android 9.0 Pie, they both pack in Tegra X1+ chipset with for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. In spite of all the goods, they removed third-party launcher support recently.

What has beeped on our radar today is another NVIDIA Shield issue pertaining to Plex. Although the issue reportedly began contaminating the application a year ago, a proper fix hasn’t arrived yet. Have a look at a couple of complaints. Source

We could spot a steady surge in the last 24 hours as more than half a dozen people commenting with the same issue under the thread. From the initial looks of the trouble, we do think it arises from Plex application. Source

Interestingly, this problem never comes into play when one tries to open Plex from Kodi. Moreover, a user has suggested another workaround (forcing a transcode on the Shield) too. However, going through the same deteriorates the quality of the streaming.

From the forum entries that users made, we could deduce the bug is prominent on 2017 and 2015 versions. And, isolated worries can be seen from those who are using the latest 2019 iteration as well. Irrespective of all those, no official fix has come out yet.
