Google Chrome back in March received an update that revamped its user profiles feature. The new implementation allows users to create personalized profiles and customize them as per their liking.
It’s similar to how user profiles work on Windows, where different users can manage and control their own profiles. These profiles also have their own themes, passwords, and other customization options.
Moreover, the process for creating a new profile has been simplified greatly. On top of that, profiles can be accessed from other devices, thus facilitating efficient syncing.
But as it stands, not everyone is a fan of the new Google Chrome profiles feature, with many also looking for ways to disable it.
The reasons for this include the lost ability to open two different email accounts in the same browser window and because it adds an ‘additional layer of complexity.’
Others are also running into another problem associated with the Google Chrome profiles feature. A possible bug causes all bookmarks and passwords to get wiped upon the creation of a new profile.
The lost data can be restored quite easily though using the workaround given within our previous coverage.
Anyway, coming to the Chrome profiles feature, it turns out that it cannot be disabled once it gets enabled. This has been confirmed by a Product Expert on the Chrome forums.
The only way to deal with it is by going back to your old profile using the method given by the mod:
The profiles feature just seems to be another one of the latest additions to Google Chrome desktop that haven’t gone down well with users.
