M3GAN has had its world premiere at Los Angeles on December 7th, 2022 with its theatrical launch scheduled on the 6th of January 2023 in America. Critics have commented with great remarks and the movie will be a treat for horror movie lovers out there.
Here’s more about it.
M3GAN
The movie is directed by the director of Housebound, Gerard Johnstone and is written by Akela Cooper along with its co-producer, James Wan. The movie is basically based on the killer-doll trope with some really cold scenes in it.
Some of the scenes in the movie have already been shared online and has raised the expectations regarding the movie. Critics have also commented on the movie’s brilliance and how it is perfectly tied up. People who have liked the movie Malignant can expect the same tongue-in-cheek tone in M3GAN as well.
The plot of the movie surrounds around the titular character M3GAN and how she is assigned with the task of ensuring the physical and emotional well being of Cady.
M3GAN is a doll like prototype built by Gemma who is roboticist at a toy and collectible company name Funki. The company is best known for their Purrpetual Petz which are a talking parody of the Furby toy. The toy is made specifically to cater to all of the child’s play needs.
After the rival company of Funki launched a similar toy, Gemma was under stress to cope up with the situation. This is when she introduces her next great invention – M3GAN which is the abbreviation for Model 3 Generative Android. However David, her boss rejects her new invention.
It was at this point, Gemma gets the custody of Cady, her niece after the unexpected death of her parents. Gemma had difficulties in supporting Cady for ]her lonesome behaviour and suddenly was struck with the idea to link M3GAN with Cady.
The Usual Cliché
We see the usual cliché where an AI develops on its own and starts to take their assigned tasks more seriously than required. M3GAN in the movie can be seen competing with Gemma over Cady.
There are also a lot of cold scenes in the movie as well which will send chills through your body including M3GAN’s hallway dance. What is underwhelming are the killings in the movie.
M3GAN’s role is very perfectly played by Amie Donald with her voice over given by Jenna Davis. There are also some additional puppetry, VFX, and animatronics works done to give more perfection to M3GAN.
If you are not a fan of crude movies and schlock, this movie might not be that appealing. Otherwise the movie will be a great treat for the horror movie lovers out there. The movie is given PG-13 rating and this itself might bring the young audience to the theatres.
