macOS 13 (Ventura) got the v13.1 update this month as its most recent incremental version. As usual, the update brought multiple bug fixes and tweaks.
But in the recent past, we have already covered some Ventura issues reported by users. For instance, the ‘Added to logins items’ bug in browsers, annoying persistent notifications, among others.
Now, multiple users are reporting a couple of issues that arrive or persist after the new update. Apparently, the ‘external display resolution’ and ‘change default browser’ options are broken on macOS Ventura 13.1.
‘External display resolution’ broken on macOS Ventura 13.1
After the latest macOS stable update, the default resolution for external displays is different. And, when users try to set another resolution, they are all marked as ‘low resolution’.
This problem results in very small UI elements as the new default resolution. Meanwhile, trying to switch to another resolution noticeably affects image quality and sharpness.
It’s worth pointing out that this issue was already present in the macOS Ventura 13 beta version:
Unfortunately, the issue was not fixed in the stable rollout, and it persists even after new updates.

macOS Ventura 13.1 also doesn’t allow changing default web browser
The other issue prevents users from changing the default web browser to open ‘WEBLOC’ files. A WEBLOC file is basically a website shortcut that redirects the user to a URL.
However, it seems that macOS Ventura 13.1 is not allowing users to change the default browser to open these WEBLOCs. According to reports, other browsers and the ‘Change All’ option in the list are grayed out.
Fortunately, there is a workaround that could help mitigate the issue pending an official response:
