The all-new Maruti Jimny 5 door makes a global debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. Maruti also opened the bookings for this car today.
The car will go on sale in May 2023 in India first and will then move to the global market. This car is made in India at the brand’s Gurugram plant and will also be exported to other markets.
Jimny 5-door is a sub-four metre SUV. Powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This car will be an off-roader with rugged underpinnings.
This car is not all new it has a lot of common features with the three-door model. Apart from a longer wheelbase, two additional doors and a redesigned rear quarter, the India-spec Jimny 5-door looks pretty similar to the global 3-door version. The signature Jimny design traits – upright pillars, clean surfacing, circular headlamps, slatted grille, chunky off-road tyres and flared wheel arches – are all there on the India-spec model as well.
The interior of the Jimny 5-door is also identical to the 3-door model. The dashboard has an all-black theme that looks quite rugged with a high-mounted 9.0-inch touchscreen taking centre stage. Some bits like the steering wheel and circular dials for the HVAC controls are shared with other Maruti models such as the Swift. It also gets a dashboard-mounted grab handle on the passenger side and faux exposed bolts that add to the rugged appeal.
The expected price of this car is around 12 lakh rupees.
