The wait is nearly over and Marvel’s Avengers fans are just a few short days away from diving into the game’s first full expansion - War for Wakanda. The big content drop, patch 2.0, is coming next week and it’s going to bring a whole lot more than just Black Panther and some new villains.

Patch 2.0 is a chance to draw in some new players and bring back some old ones who have walked away and the team at Marvel’s Avengers have been making a lot of tweaks and improvements to try to and put the best foot forward during this opportunity. With that goal in mind, there are some major quality of life improvements on the way next week that fans have been requesting for a long time.

Even if combat operated perfectly in a service game like Marvel’s Avengers, players still need to have an optimal experience outside of battle in order to stay engaged and enjoy the full experience. There’s always going to be some amount of time spent fiddling with different builds in the character menu, reorganizing gear, and running around Outposts picking up missions. Patch 2.0 aims to improve all of those experiences by implementing a lot of the feedback that players have been offering since the early beta tests…

Improved/Unified Character Menu

Up until now, players have needed to visit various tabs to check out their gear, emotes, takedowns, and challenge cards. With the new update, all of that will be visible from one unified character menu. This should massively help clean up the user experience when it comes to adjusting and reviewing these items.

More Gear Slots and Quicker Gear Transfers/Storage

Gear is always going to be a hot topic of conversation when it comes to Marvel’s Avengers. Making sure it is as easy as possible to organize, compare, dismantle, and store these items is crucial to providing a positive user experience and keeping players engaged rather than annoyed. Some big changes are coming on this front that should help further improve the experience.

“Before 2.0, Gear, Cosmetics, and Challenge Cards were all relegated to their own tabs. Our new update unifies all these pages onto a single character-focused screen. Now when you open the menu, you can access your Gear, Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, Challenge Cards and more without having to tab through multiple pages to find the items that define your Hero. This will make navigating the menus speedier, allowing you to get back to the action more quickly.”

Single Faction Mission Terminal Visits

Faction Mission pickup has been a little clunky since the game first launched and various minor changes have helped improve the experience over the last year. The next big revision is on the way with patch 2.0 and it sounds like it’s going to be another little tweak that makes players very happy, even if it only saves them a few seconds a day.

“We’ve implemented a “mass dismantle” feature that allows you to deconstruct old gear en masse, instead of having to dismantle them one-by-one. (We’ve made sure to add the ability to lock items so they can’t be accidentally dismantled!) Additionally, we’ve increased the number of gear slots you have in the first place before items are sent to your locker. And if you think “mass dismantle” is great, you can now “mass transfer” items to your locker as well! The locker has been upgraded to 600 storage slots. More inventory all around lays the foundation for us to add a “multiple loadouts” feature down the line.”

It’s likely that more details will be revealed in the coming week, but for now that is everything Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have shared about the upcoming expansion’s features and changes. Players can login and start preparing now to get ready for August 17.

“… We’ve also tweaked how you access your Faction missions when you’re in an Outpost. Instead of having to travel to different terminals to access each faction’s respective missions, all faction missions are now accessible from the same terminal.”

This covers just about everything heroes need to know to prepare for the big changes arriving before and during the War for Wakanda expansion launch. Be sure to check back frequently for more Marvel’s Avengers news, guides, and updates in the near future.
