During the games, the starship was under the control of the main protagonist Commander Shepard. The spacecraft served as headquarters for Shepard after the SSV Normandy, his previous vessel was destroyed. Recently, one fan decided to copy the design of this sci-fi ship in real life.
In a post on Reddit, a user known as SnooMacaroons3463 shared several pictures of a recent project they had completed involving their Audi. As a fan of the Mass Effect series, the Reddit user decided to redesign the car based on the Normandy SR-2 starship. In the collection of images, the vehicle had a sleek look. It featured a white base color with blue and black highlights near the front wheels that then tapered off towards the back. In addition, “SR-2” was added to one of the side doors, while “Normandy” was on the other. Furthermore, the design included classic logos from the franchise.
Besides showing off the car with several pictures, SnooMacaroons3463 provided some details behind the Mass Effect skin for the car. Instead of creating the design of the vehicle themselves, they hired someone to complete the project. According to the Reddit user, the Mass Effect design was printed onto Avery sheets and then laminated. They also revealed that the car was wrapped in one layer, except for blue stripes on the top and hood. In addition, they “plasti dipped” the rims and emblems that were part of the design.
After various people inquired about the price, SnooMacaroons3463 revealed that the cost of getting a custom design varies. They explained that there were a number of steps needed to complete the project, such as hiring a designer and going to a wrapping shop. SnooMacaroons3463 said that the project took roughly a week of work and cost around $4,000. However, they noted that it could be cheaper in other regions.
