The Oscar winning actor Matthew McConaughey has opened up on his intentions on politics, he confirmed that he won’t be running for Governor of Texas in 2022.

McConaughey shared a video on Twitter in which he said, “As a simple kid born in the little town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me that I would one day be considered for political leadership. It’s a humbling and inspiring path to ponder.” He added, “It is also a path that I am choosing not to take at this moment.”

The popular rom-com actor has said that he has been studying about Texas and politics from a long time and learned a variety of stuff. He said about politics, “we got to start shining a light on our shared values, the ones that cross party lines, the ones that build bridges instead of burn them.”

McConaughey has stated that he will continue to support entrepreneurs, businesses, foundations and organizations which works to propel people on the road of righteousness and to lead the American dream.

His vision for America is one of prosperity interlocked with service and community. He also pointed out the importance of politics by saying, “Politicians, the good ones, can help us get to where we need to go.” He added, “But let’s be clear, they can’t do anything for us unless we choose to do for ourselves.”

Earlier this year, Matt said that he was still ‘measuring’ the run which indicated that he was not going to run but now the Ghosts of Girlfriends Past actor has come to a decision which is not in the favor of politics. He seems to be on board with the thought that politics isn’t working for a large number of Americans especially the Lone Star State. He talked about modern-day problems in politics and also about philosophizing on the ultimate purpose of it.
